An Introductory Workshop on the Fundamental Elements of Singing

Learn about exploring and experiencing the parts of our bodies that make up our singing instrument, with Sue Anne.

The Four Elements:

  1. BREATHING
  2. REGISTRATION
  3. RESONANCE
  4. MIND BODY SPIRIT

Breathing: The power for sound

An understanding of the function of natural diaphragmatic breathing and the muscles that assist in the process:

  • Lungs
  • Abdominal Muscles
  • Intercostal Muscles
  • Posture and Alignment

Registration

An understanding of the Larynx and the Vocal Muscles within it that vibrate and create high and low notes.

We will learn how those inner muscles can work together smoothly.


Resonance

Understanding and experiencing the spaces within us that are the secondary vibrators

  • Soft Palette
  • Hard Palette
  • Mouth
  • Throat/pharynx
  • Sinus pockets
  • Nasal passages
  • The six areas of relaxation necessary for open free sound

Mind Body Spirit

The person who is the instrument and how your state of being and feelings about yourself affect the sound that comes out of you.


An understanding of how your soul can sing.

About Sue Anne

Sue Anne has been singing since the age of 2. It has been her primary form of expression throughout her life, and she enjoyed a 20-year career, singing leading roles On and Off Broadway and throughout the country. Sue Anne’s dream was to sing the music of great Broadway composers and lyricists and she did. She worked with Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Bock, Sheldon Harnick, Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt. She was a muse for composers and premiered many new works. Sue Anne performed solo classical and jazz concerts at the New York City cultural hub, The 92nd Street Y, and received glowing reviews for her one-woman show, A Song at Last She is currently working on a new CD. 

Sue Anne is an ordained Energy Healer with over 12 years of attunement to this healing art form. Her teaching is infused with the love of music, and the energetic understanding of the living organism.
